Melons barely survive, don't thrive

Farmers are in south Georgia watermelon fields are harvesting that important summer crop. But the crop, and the harvesters, are taking a hit from the heat and drought.

Some farmers say this year is as bad as they have seen, with yields off as much as 40%. That could hurt Georgia's economy.

South Georgia watermelon growers are frustrated. They have been irrigating their crop as much as physically possible, but because of the heat, it's still not enough. They are harvesting early this year, and not finding much.
