Dollar General holds Career Fair Saturday

ALBANY, GA (WALB)-   In its effort to hire 10,000 new employees in May, Dollar General will host a career fair at Dollar General located at 2017 N Slappey Blvd.  in Albany, Ga. on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to attract new store candidates to join its thriving and growing organization. 

This event will be one of approximately 170 nationwide career fairs held on Saturday throughout the 40 states the retailer serves.

State leaders were at Lake Blackshear, a stop on their "where the rudder meets the road tour" to spread the word that driving under the influence will not be tolerated.

State and local law agencies are teaming up and cracking down on boaters operating a vessel under the influence.

Scuba Olympics coming to Albany

ALBANY, GA (WALB)- Scuba divers are gearing up this weekend for an intense competition, which also helps out a noble cause right here in Albany.

The Dive Shop is holding their second annual Scuba Olympics this Saturday, for experienced and uncertified divers at YMCA's Outdoor Park on Gillionville Road.

A race with a ping pong ball on a spoon, a three legged race, or simply blowing up a balloon might all seem like easy tasks.

But 10 or 12 feet underwater, it might get a little more difficult.

Judge Sands: Maintain Status Quo with Phoebe North

ALBANY, GA (WALB)- Today, federal judge Louis Sands issued an order requiring the former Palmyra Hospital, now Phoebe North to be "maintained, status quo."

This means that the Hospital Authority of Dougherty County must maintain it as is until further notice.

The Federal Trade Commission has continued to fight Phoebe Putney's take over of its former competitor.
